What is WPM?
WPM stands for Words Per Minute. It's a standard way to measure typing speed. One “word” is typically considered to be five characters (including spaces). So if you type 250 characters in one minute, that's 50 WPM.
How is accuracy calculated?
Accuracy is based on how many characters you typed correctly out of the total. Mistakes like typos or incorrect spacing will reduce your accuracy percentage. The goal is to balance both speed and accuracy.
What's a good WPM?
The average typing speed is around 40–50 WPM. If you can hit 60–70 WPM, that's above average. Anything over 100 WPM is considered fast, and professional typists or competitive typers often hit 120 WPM or more.
How can I improve my typing speed?
Practice consistently, focus on proper finger placement (touch typing), and avoid looking at the keyboard. Over time, your muscle memory will improve—and so will your speed.
